Background

BasadiPele, a Sotho name meaning, “women first” is a women-led business operating as a Non-Profit Company. The business was founded in August 2016, and officially registered with the Companies and Intellectual Property Commission (CIPC) in March 2017, by Palesa Kubu and 2 other Directors occupying different portfolios. Palesa hails from Kroonstad but is currently living in Soweto. Her professional background includes having worked for MTN (Call Centre – PrePaid); FNB (Home –Loans); ABSA (Bulk Teller); Ster Kinekor (Call Centre Supervisor) and MultiChoice. She started off as a Call Centre Agent at MultiChoice in 2005, then promoted to Stand- In Supervisor position after six months. From there later, she moved to the Training Department as a Learning Delivery Specialist for 10 years, 2006-2016. Post Matric, she completed a Facilitation Course facilitated by PrimeServ Human Resources Training Solutions in 2007. In 2009, she completed an Assessor Course with the same institution. From 2010-12, she obtained a Higher Certificate in Education Training & Development Practices (ETDP) from the University of Johannesburg (UJ). In 2013, she also obtained a Project Management Certificate from the Faculty Training Institute (FTI). Lastly but not least, she has just completed and obtained in 2016 a Diploma in ETDP from the University of Johannesburg (UJ).
Her motivation to start this business was after observing that there is a shortage of women in the satellite dish installation industry. Influenced by her work experience with MultiChoice in the learning and development space, she realised the company had one female installer nationally. This is how BasadiPele was formed.
The company is BBB-EE Level 1 Contributor and Accredited with MICTSeta.
